Robert Aldrich's great action movie about hobos who ride the trains during the Great Depression of the 1930s. Borgnine plays a sadistic railroad cop who "would rather kill a man than give him a free ride" and he does frequently. Marvin plays the aristocratic hobo who challenges him. Keith Carradine is a cocky young "bo" with aspirations towards being a legend in his own time. The filmmakers have a wonderful eye for period detail. One of the best train movies ever made.
