Restored edition of John Carpenter's (Christine, The Thing) tidy little thriller that spawned a slew of sequels. The entire film takes place on Halloween night in the small town of Hadleyville, where an escaped (and apparently very resistant to injury) lunatic named Michael Myers wreaks his havoc on the citizenry. Especially imperiled is a young woman (Jamie Lee Curtis), who is babysitting two small children. Donald Pleasance plays the psychiatrist who knows what poor, demented Michael is capable of, but no one believes him until it is too late. Obviously made on a low budget and that, perhaps, is one of its glories. Not for the squeamish.
