I probably should preface this by stating that I would gladly listen to Emmylou Harris sing listings from the phone book but, even considering those standards, this is an exceptionally beautiful album. Part of Harris' genius lies in her ability to choose material that is perfectly compatible with her simple, unaffected style and her crystalline voice. Highlights include "How She Could Sing the Wildwood Flower," a song composed by Harris and Kate & Anna McGarrigle and "Beyond the Great Divide," with harmonizing vocals by John Starling and Mike Auldridge.
