Bringing Literature to Life One Book at a Time

POD

Friends,

As you might have heard, the long-awaited Print On Demand machine has arrived at Northshire Bookstore! This amazing machine prints a high-quality paperback book in about ten minutes. The covers can be full color; the inside is black and white. It can print books in any language.

This version of the Espresso Book Machine (EBM), as it is dubbed, is a test machine – one of five in the world. We will be working with the manufacturer, On Demand Books, to evolve the technology for a version that will be widely available next year.

Our main focus, right now, is to offer authors publishing services. From novels to family memoirs, from genealogies to class projects, from local histories to corporate gifts, the possibilities are endless. The beauty of this machine is that it is cost effective to print small quantities.

To inaugurate the EBM we will be printing two unique books:

  • We are bringing back into print Manchester, Vermont: A Pleasant Land Among the Mountains, 1761-1961 by Edwin Bigelow & Nancy Otis. Ms. Otis will join us soon to celebrate the re-publication of this fine work of local history. Thanks to the Select Board of Manchester for giving us permission to re-print this important book.
  • Zachary Zupan, age 11, will be publishing his first book with us. It is an original novel of adventure titled A Kid’s World.

We are also able to download and print more than 200,000 titles that are out of copyright. Books in many languages are available, as well. And this is all just beginning--in five to ten years we should be able to print almost any book that has ever been published anywhere.

For more information about print on demand and self-publishing at Northshire Bookstore, please visit our website.

Be well,

Chris Morrow
