Mark Wahlberg plays a reclusive, disillusioned man whose patriotic fire is rekindled by the chance to use his expertise as a skilled sharpshooter to prevent a presidential assassination. The plot makes very little sense, but it is propelled at such a breakneck pace, the viewer hardly has time to catch his breath much less consider logic. Infectiously likable film adaptation of Jerry Herman's big Broadway hit with Lucille Ball in the role that made Angela Lansbury the toast of the Great White Way. What Lucy lacks in vocal finesse, she more than compensates for in sheer star power. Frank Sinatra, as an American colonel in World War II Italy, leads a group of escaped prisoners aboard a commandeered train towards freedom in Switzerland with the Nazis in hot pursuit.
