I try really hard to love every book I read. The easy measure of a book that succeeds for me is if I don't leave it on my bedside stand for a few paragraph's nightly reading before nodding off, but carry it with me to read while brushing my teeth, eating lunch, etc. until it's done. I'm not drawn to Sci Fi, murder mysteries, romance novels or New Age - otherwise, my criteria is in the "je ne sais quoi" realm. Good character studies, historical settings, no action needed. I hope you'll read the books I recommended - they're here because I loved them!

From Colosseum by Sarah Arvio
"and all the beauty and the blasphemy. Petals, petals, scattering from the stands where only vestals were allowed to sit, having tended the flame for all of us. Here, I knew, was the empire of my soul showing on my face as I turned to you."

Sarah Knight likes to read well written mysteries set in foreign countries. Police procedurals, spy capers, gangster thrillers are current favorites. She also likes Hong Kong movies.

I'm a mother, rabid online gamer, bellydancer, Appalachian Trail thru-hiker and voracious reader. I don't have television reception or know how to "tweet". My mother read me Poe at bedtime when I was little which has instilled in me a life long love of all things morbid and disturbing.

I have been working at the Northshire Bookstore since 2000. I am the adult book buyer. Fiction, sports and nature are the categories I read most of the time. I was born and raised in South Carolina.
