Jess Krawczyk - Bookseller

A few of my favorite things: dogs. Cats. Sugar Bears. Feminism (woo!). Alpha Sigma Tau (anchored for life!). Tattoos. Fitness pole dancing. Yummy craft beers. Vermont. Snowboarding. Snowmobiling. Snow. Large bodies of water.

A few of my favorite books: "The Handmaids Tale," "Stargirl," and the "Harry Potter" series.

An awesome quote to live by from Herm Albright: "a positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort."

Aubrey Restifo - Bookseller

Aubrey is a children's bookseller specializing in books for middle readers and young adults. Despite a socially crippling devotion to Star Wars, military history, and sociolinguistics, Aubrey is a high-functioning elementary and middle school language teacher as well as the Coordinator of the Center for Creative Teaching at Bennington College. She was raised in Cleveland, Ohio, enjoys retrogaming with her brother, and is a violinist whenever there is time.

Amy Palmer - Bookseller

After pestering her mother to read her The Tale of Peter Rabbit for the hundredth time at the age of four, Amy was urged to, "Go read it yourself." She did, and hasn't stopped reading since. She mostly reads fiction, biography and memoir and enjoys depravity and murder. She looks for strong characters (fictional or non,) a powerful voice and something to stun her or shift her perspective.

Krysta Piccoli - Bookseller

At the age of eight, Krysta's mother read her 1984 (among other questionable titles). This may have been so that Krysta could truly appreciate literature, or so she could understand the nature of our world. Most likely it was because Krysta's mother believed that it was her job to scare the daylights out of her children whenever possible. In any case, the odd choices of literature resulted in all three of the above.

Jeanette - Special Orders

After a long day of cruisn’ through the various adventures in life (Indiana Jones has nuttin’ on me), nothing hits the spot like…chocolate. But once you say chocolate that’s all you need say. So these pages are dedicated to a few of my other passions: alligator wrestling, bull riding, reading books (big books, little books, picture books, no pictures books, even little black books), listening to music (from A to Z and back again) and a variety of other things. So take a minute to browse some of my faves and I hope they become some of yours.

Alden Graves - Bookseller, Movie & Music Buyer

A native Vermonter, Alden works in the music department at the Northshire. He is also in charge of the DVDs and tries very hard to have titles that customers might not readily find elsewhere. He loves film, especially ones that have either trains or Elizabeth Taylor in them. Alden contributes a weekly column on the movies to the Bennington Banner. His other interests include shipwrecks, Jack the Ripper, Peggy Lee, and real country music. Other staff members at the Northshire are very tolerant as he rambles on about the Andrea Doria and they probably know a lot more about the Ripper than they ever thought they would.

Chris Morrow - Co-Owner

Growing up in the bookstore was a treat. Books have literally been in my blood since I was young. Now I mostly read books about the state of the world or the various possible futures we might face. I hope books, learning, communication, dialog, and the chance to ponder possibilities beyond our everyday lives will contribute to a world which thrives culturally, economically and environmentally.

Erik Barnum - Sales Floor Manager

Erik is the Sales Floor Manager of the Northshire Bookstore. He likes his authors to be fearless and his musicians to be pure. Loves to read Shakespeare and Ray Bradbury, Steinbeck and Pete Dexter. Listens to Muddy Waters and Mel Torme, John Hartford and Al Green. Erik also likes to read about the natural world, being an avid outdoorsy person who enjoys kayaking and hiking the wilds of Vermont.
